Your Five Biggest Questions About Dermal Filler Answered

Today at Skin Perfect we are answering life’s big questions.

We are delving deep into dermal fillers. Yep, today we answer your top five questions about getting dermal filler injections, our most popular Skin Perfect cosmetic solution.

Should I get dermal fillers instead of botox?

Both Botox and dermal fillers are popular anti-ageing injections, however, each are best suited to different ageing concerns.

Botox is renowned for its ability to smooth away facial wrinkles, especially around the eye area and forehead. As these cosmetic injections paralyse the muscle and prevent it from creasing, the effect is that frown lines, under eye wrinkles, fine lines such as crow’s feet and forehead creases, including deep creases between the eyebrows, are smoothed. They also are effective in the lip area and are even used to treat lines on the throat and neck.

Dermal fillers, however, are used to reshape and restore fullness to sagging hollow skin. This anti-ageing treatment also works to fill out deeper facial wrinkles and folds. Dermal fillers are ideal to replace lost collagen caused by the ageing process and are used to restore volume to cheeks, chin and jowls, plump up lips, and under eye tear trough. It is also used cosmetically to reshape the nose and chin

What are the benefits of dermal fillers?

When injected by a professionally trained and experienced cosmetic doctor, dermal fillers offer many cosmetic benefits.

A skilled cosmetic doctor can achieve many skin transformations with fillers, from skillfully balancing facial features, to reshaping a nose, adding fullness to cheeks and lips or simply smoothing fine lines.

Further, as well as being longer-lasting, cosmetic fillers fill the skin, rather than freeze the muscle as Botox does. This means no swelling and instant results.

What is the downtime after dermal filler injections?

There is no extensive recovery required, and you can drive yourself to your cosmetic treatment appointment.

However, clients should note that they experience some swelling and redness (and potentially bruising) afterwards depending on the number of injections and the injection site.

Avoiding blood thinners like aspirin, and not drinking alcohol at least a week before injections is recommended.

How long do the results last for?

Dermal fillers offer long-lasting results.

Synthetic fillers last between 12 – 18 months, while others will last at least 6 months. This guarantees a wonderful, smooth result for longer without the need for “top-ups” or further anti-ageing treatment.

Also, dermal fillers are unique in that they stimulate collagen production, meaning as they replace lost volume they are also encouraging your skin to act in a more youthful way.

How much do dermal fillers cost?

A true cosmetic professional should not be able to provide you with a flat rate cost, or a quote for service, before undertaking a clinical examination of your skin and understanding your dermatological goals.

At Sydney Cosmetic Clinic, we only use high-grade cosmetic fillers to perform our anti-ageing treatments and offer personalized service to all our clients.

We price our dermal filler skin care treatments by volume and type of filler used.

So, how much you will spend on an anti-ageing treatment will depend on various factors, including:

  • The cosmetic treatment you are having
  • The type of dermal filler required for best results
  • Your skin type
  • How much cosmetic filler is required to achieve the look you want
